Just ahead of Photokina Samyang have announced the latest addition to the XEEN line, the 16mm T2.6. The 16mm features an ultra wide 106.9 degree field of view, 11 aperture blades, and a 114mm front diameter.
The new 16mm joins the 14mm T3.1, 24mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.5, 85mm T1.5, and the 135mm T2.2. This now gives shooters a seven lens set that covers a large focal range.
The XEEN Cinema primes lenses have been widely praised for their good performance at a very affordable price. At IBC we saw both Tokina and Sigma launch cinema prime lenses, but they are both only available in limited focal lengths at this stage. If your looking for a complete set of affordable prime lenses then the Samyang XEENs and the Zeiss CP.2s are still your only affordable options.
