At the IBC show in Amsterdam Tilta were demonstrating a finished version of their Nucleus II single channel remote focus system. It comprises a wireless hand unit, control box and lens motor.
They have shown the system at various stages of development before, but at IBC they told us the single channel Nucleus II is now in production and shipping out. They claim the three channel version is not far behind.
Priced at $2900 US the Nucleus II isn’t the cheapest remote focus system around. It is designed with higher end users in mind as is more expensive than models from DJI or CameTV. The look and finish of the Nucleus seems similar to high end systems from C-Motion, RT Motion, Movcam or Hocus Focus. It has wooden knob and grips and comes nicely packaged in a custom hard case. The motor seems quiet and smooth.
If you are in the market for a professional focus system for your gimbal or Steadicam the Tilta should certainly be on the short list of gear to take a look at.
You can find out more about the Nucleus on the Tilta website.
