Arri have unveiled the third addition to their SkyPanel family, the S120-C. The S120-C is twice as long as the SC-60, but has a very similar weight and power consumption.
The new fixtures 1290 x 300mm size helps to create a nice soft, but large, vertical or horizontal light source. Unlike the SC30 and SC60, the S120 is only available in a full colour tuneable LED version. A remote phosphor panel of that size would of come with a prohibitively high cost.
The S120-C comes with all the same functionality and colour accuracy of the SC30-C and SC60-C that I previously reviewed on Newsshooter.
Arri were also showing a new SkyPanel wired remote control that attaches to the fixtures via a USB cable. This is handy for making changes to the lights if they are placed in positions that aren’t easily accessible.
SkyPanel firmware 2.5 was also announced and it ads features such as maser/slave mode, expanded gel library, and a low voltage battery warning.
The S120-C will be available later this month for €5690 ($6390 US).
