No such thing as a free lunch, but it appears there is such a thing as a free LUT – if you’ve bought an Atomos Shogun or Ninja Assassin recorder FilmConvert have made three of their LUTs available for you to download and use.
There are specially created files tuned for the Sony A7s II by Philip Bloom and Nino Leitner, and even more excitingly an unassuming file called KD5207 Vis3. This will apply a LUT to Log footage to emulate the look of Kodak Vision 3 film – used to shoot The Imitation Game, Les Miserables, Lincoln, The Wolf of Wall Street, 12 Years a Slave and Star Wars: Episode VII. Some of which you might have heard of.
If you have a qualifying monitor, register your purchase with Atomos here and head over to the FilmConvert website to download your LUTs right now…
There’s also a free trial version of FilmConvert if you haven’t tried the post process software. We’re big fans here at Newsshooter and it’s well worth a download.
