At NAB 2016 Tilta were showcasing their second iteration of Armor Man. Armor Man is a exoskeleton designed to help cameraman carry heavier camera loads and gimbals without putting strain on your arms and back.
The biggest change to the design is that it is now easier for a solo operator to disengage the arms by themselves so you can continue to wear the Armor Man comfortably when you’re not shooting. It works by pulling a rip cord, which disengages the arm and lets you then bring it down and cool it onto a latch.
I tried the new version and was impressed by its ease of use and operation. It certainly makes a big difference when you are using a gimbal with a larger camera payload. The only limitations to the system is the reduced range of motion you can achieve when wearing the exoskeleton. Armor Man 2 is available now for $2250 US.
