Redrockmicro this week launched several new rigs aimed at mirrorless camera users. They bear a close resemblance to the company’s existing DSLR kits and this is no coincidence. I spoke to Brian Valente of Redrockmicro yesterday and he explained how they decided to reimagine their line of DSLR rigs for the increasingly popular Sony a7 range, Panasonic GH4 and other mirrorless cameras.
Some of the parts are a little smaller than the DSLR versions of these rigs, but the overall designs are similar. The big draw for smaller camera users is that the new kits are considerably cheaper than their DSLR cousins. The Mini handheld rig for mirrorless cameras is just $299, compared to $467 for the original Nano Running Man.
The DSLR Field Cinema Shouldermount Camera rig costs $1,149.50, but the scaled down Mini Shoulder Rig for Mirrorless Cameras does away with longer rods and a counterweight, and costs just $349.
