Sony has delayed the highly anticipated version 3.0 firmware update for the FS7 that will bring in Center Scan mode, movable focus magnification and several other new features. As we previously reported it was due to be posted this month, but it has now been rescheduled for a release in January 2016.
The main reason appears to be because Sony want to fix issues with high frame rate RAW output that Sebastian Wober of Cinema5D discovered recently. You can read about them here.
The delay will surely disappoint owners who have been patiently waiting for the Center Scan mode, but it is good to see Sony directly addressing the issues.
Below is the revised Ver.3.00 outline from Sony:
– Support for adjusting the Focus Magnification area position
– Support for “2K Full”, “2K Center” setting in Image Scan Mode
– Support for Interval Recording function
– Support for Noise Suppression setting in Cine EI mode
– Expand lowest value of Zebra level to 0%
– RAW image quality improvement at 240/200fps HFR shooting
Release date:
[OLD]: within 2015
[NEW]: within 2016/Jan
