At first glance the new BB&S Pipeline tube lights look like regular fluorescent tubes. Instead they use the latest remote phosphor technology to create a versatile alternative that is expandable and modular. The cylindrical fixtures are customisable to suit specific requirements.
The new form-factor one-inch diameter LED lights are available in lengths of 1’, 2’, 3’ and 4’ (305mm, 610mm, 914mm and 1219mm). According to BB&S, they offer many of the benefits of remote phosphor’s light quality and consistency, and they provide brighter, higher fidelity light emission. They have been designed so you can install them into a multi-lamp reflector bank (1, 2 or 4 Pipes), or used in a single reflector. The Pipelines provide an extremely pleasing output for modelling faces and illuminating backgrounds.
The Pipeline series lights will start shipping in around 10 weeks’ time. The technology comes at a price though, a 3′ fixture with power supply will start at around $1600 US, a lot more than a regular fluorescent tube.
