Redrock Micro, known for their camera rigs and follow focus units, have introduced a new take on focus assistance at NAB this year.
Called Halo, the system can scan a scene and determine where there are people and other objects; it can then perform a variety of functions varying from holding focus in a given area to pulling focus smoothly between objects.

The system consists of a scanner, displays to show scene and focus distance, and a follow focus unit that can be controlled by data received by the system as well as a manual override.
