CAME have gained a reputation in indie filmmaking circles for making lower cost brushless gimbals. The Chinese manufacturer has made several models that carry DSLRs and larger cameras, but recently announced their latest model designed for smaller cams like the a7S and GH4.
The CAME-MINI comes assembled and ready to use and costs $1188 US. It weighs in at 1.1kg and comes with carry case, stand, battery and charger.
In common with many newer gimbals the CAME-MINI uses 32 bit boards and also has a joystick controller as standard. It has the standard follow and lock axes modes as well as a Commixture Mode, which locks the tilt axis but allows the cam to follow left and right panning movements.
From the images it looks like the CAME-MINI is a much more ‘finished’ product than earlier budget gimbals. There are no exposed wires and nice touches like a bubble level have been added.
The gimbal is expected to ship in March and is available to pre-order now through the CAME’s website.
