Zacuto's Gratical HD Micro-OLED EVF gets a drop test and run over by a car

Zacuto’s Gratical HD Micro-OLED EVF is marketed as a professional grade viewfinder with a tough magnesium alloy. But just how tough is it? don’t try this at home but Steve Weiss decided to test out his new product by dropping it a couple of times for us all to see.

The Gratical comfortably survives which is reassuring considering that it is a sizable investment for any filmmaker. To follow that Steve then decides to run it over with a car:

Again the EVF survives and I for one am convinced that it is really well built.

We have a Gratical EVF on loan from Zacuto at the moment and will be reviewing it shortly (although we probably can’t repeat the drop or car tests).

The EVF also received a price drop recently – even before it actually ships. From Jan 7th thru Jan 15th the pre-order price on the Gratical HD will be lowered to $2900, down from $3600. Customers that already pre-ordered at the original price will also get the discount.
