Our second bit of Atomos news from the Inter BEE show today is that CEO Jeromy has confirmed to us that the 4K RAW signal from the popular Sony FS700 will be recordable with the Shogun. It is planned as free firmware upgrade in January next year.
He also told us that he would like record 4K Apple ProRes from the FS700 RAW record option but isn’t yet sure that the hardware is capable of doing so and further testing is required. If you really need to record 4K ProRes from the RAW output of your FS700 right now then the Convergent Design 7Q recorder is your only option.
It is refreshing to get this level of openness from an electronics manufacturer and its also great to see Atomos doing as much as possible to get the best from their product.
