Newsshooter at NAB 2014: Varavon show $2000 brushless gimbal and $300 GH4 cage from Dan Chung on Vimeo.
Our stream of extra videos from NAB continues with this interview by our reporter Li-lian Ahlskog Hou. She talks with Korean firm Varavon about their new $2000 US brushless gimbal. We saw an earlier prototype unit at IBC in Amsterdam last year but the final product looks much more finished. To achieve the price Varavon have based the design on an off-the-shelf Alexmos controller. It has a joystick controller and all the usual functions of an Alexmos based gimbal. It can carry a Canon 5D mkIII or other similar sized DSLR.
Also on show was an upcoming Panasonic GH3/GH4 compact cage, priced around $300 US. With the GH4 looking like it will be extremely popular this is just the first of many new cages and rigs for that camera.
