NAB 2014: NewsShooter – Vincent LaForet and G-Technology-NAB from Teradek on Vimeo.
G-technology’s Ian Andes and filmmaker Vincent Laforet came onto our live show at NAB this week to show off the new G-Speed Studio series drives – which bear more than a passing resemblance to the new MacPro. The svelte black curved enclosure should look right at home next to a MacPro – if you are lucky enough to have one.
The G-Speed Studio has Thunderbolt 2 connectivity and 4 drive bays which carry enterprise grade 7200rpm drives which are apparently filled with helium for better performance. Data transfers happen at up 700MB/s.
It is available in 12, 16 and 24 TB capacities. Prices range from $2199.95 to $3599.95. You can download the product information sheet here.
Also launched was the new G-Drive EV SSD, a SSD drive that connects to you computer via USB 3.0 at up to 400MB/s, or via the Thunderbolt EV dock at around 480MB/s. I think this drive will make an excellent on-the-road drive for video editors. More info on this drive is downloadable here.
