Straight after today’s big press conference at NAB 2014, Matt Allard and I talk to Kanta Yakamoto from Sony and DP Den Lennie, who has been trying the camera out. We asked about the inspiration, design and planning behind the new 4k-capable Alpha 7S. Questions ranging from the reasons why they used a stainless steel mount to why 4k is external only. One quote from Lennie that really stood out -‘If you have a 5D mkIII sell it now, buy one of these!’. Strong stuff and from what we’ve seen this seems to be about right if your focus is video.
