BIRTV 2013: Vocas wooden handgrips and rig and PL adapter for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera from Dan Chung on Vimeo.
Dutch company Vocas were showing their latest gear on the Shriro imaging stand at the BIRTV show in Beijing this year. We caught up with them to get an update on their wooden handgrips and their PL mount adapter/rod mount support system for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera.
The wooden handgrips now work with a wide range of cameras including Sony’s F55 and F5, Canon’s C100/C300/C500 and also the Arri Alexa. I found the design to be incredibly comfortable. It makes a camera and rig handle much more like an old Aaton when shooting handheld.
The PL to Micro 4/3 adapter was beautifully made and unlike many cheaper adapters can be easily shimmed for precise infinity focus. Combined with a rod mount and a small riser it can be fitted extremely securely to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera – all ready to use vintage Super16 lenses like the lovely Zeiss/Arri 11-110mm in the photo below.
