Just over a month ago, we brought you news of Edelkrone’s SliderPLUS+, a slider that offered 521mm of travel from just a 385mm unit. Edelkrone has now announced a bigger brother to this in the form of the SliderPLUS XL. This features a slightly longer 544mm body but gives a generous 914mm (3ft) of movement in return. Like the original SliderPLUS+ the magic comes from the clever roller bearing system and means that in addition to the camera moving along the rail, the rail moves independently, providing the extra distance.
The unit weighs 2.2kg and can support a load of up to 7.25kg. Both SliderPLUS units feature an extension port to which a DC motor can be attached for time lapse and motion control. However, there is no confirmation as to when this accessory will be made available or at what price. The Edelkrone SliderPLUS XL will retail at $699 US and is available via their website now.
