Until now users upgrading to the latest DSLRs with larger LCD screens have not really had a good solution for using them with their Zacuto Z-finder LCD loupes.
The original Z-finder mounting frames designed for the Canon 5D mkII obscure some of the screen area when put on a Canon 5D mkIII or Nikon D800. So far I have been using a monitor or EVF on the 5D mkIII but would often prefer the simplicity of putting a Z-finder straight onto the camera – especially in run and gun news situations.
To solve this Zacuto have finally launched a 3.2” Z-finder mounting frame. The $60 frame that has just gone on sale is for use with the company’s Gorilla plate. As with previous frames the design allows you to snap the Z-finder on or off quickly – great when going from video to photo mode.
Zacuto have said that a stick-on mounting frame is also in the works. There will also be a version for Gorilla plate users who want to use a battery grip on the camera.
