Patrick Moreau has posted an excellent field review of the Canon 5D mkIII over on his Stillmotion blog. What is fascinating is that he is using it to create rapid turn-around, visually interesting sports stories for CBS, NFLN and FOX.
He talks about why DSLR is still used in Stillmotion’s productions and about cutting shots from the 5D mkIII into footage from Varicam, Alexa and Red Epics for the CBS 2012 Final Four Open video above.
In the blog post Patrick discusses the pluses of the new camera as well as what he would like to have seen included. He also notes that he still finds DSLRs like the 5D mkIII faster to use for this work than the Sony PMW-F3 or Canon C300.
