Fuji were showing their MK 18-55 T2.9 cine style zoom in Fuji X-Mount at this year’s NAB. It previously launched in E-Mount for Sony cameras, and makes a natural companion for the FS7 or FS5.
Fujinon MK 18-55 T2.9 now available in Fuji flavour
Fuji haven’t announced any cameras with video as a primary focus, but recent firmware updates to their lines of stills cameras have enabled some video friendly features. Their XT-2 is also the first Fuji stills camera to feature 4K video recording. They’re not quite comparable to, say, Sony in their focus on video yet, but it seems clear that moving images are (finally?) on Fuji’s radar.
The lens itself is identical to the E-mount version that launched in February, so features a T2.9 aperture throughout the zoom range, adjustable back focus and a useful macro mode.
Fujinon MK 18-55 T2.9 price and availability
There’s no firm release date for the MK 18-55 T2.9 X-mount, as work is still ongoing in integrating electronic communication in to the lens. Fujinon intend to release the lens later this year, and though they’re not willing to commit to an exact price, it sounds like you shouldn’t expect to may much (if any) more than the Sony version.
