Movcam’s cable adapter to turn Sony’s a7S into a run-and-gun powerhouse has been released and is available now for around $60 US (or £54 if you’re in the UK).
It allows remote control of iris and zoom over a standard lanc cable. When it’s paired with the FS7’s control grip unit and a compatible lens you can zoom remotely. Current supported lenses for the zoom function are unsurprisingly all Sony PZ (Power Zoom) models – the 28-135, 18-105 and 18-200 PZ lenses.
With the proper shoulder rig this will allow you to use the a7S in traditional ENG on-the-shoulder style but with image controls at your fingertips.
