At our Newsshooter/Teradek live show at IBC I had the pleasure of talking lighting with Pat Grosswendt, co-founder of Litepanels. Pat is also a veteran gaffer and worked on feature films such as Gosford Park and The Crucible. In the interview he shares some of his wealth of lighting experience.
For filmmakers starting out he goes through some of the basic principles with good advice on light placement, how lighting men and women differs and how time constraints affect the end result. I especially love the tip about lighting the background first if you are unsure about how to light the main subject.
Pat joined us a second time on the show to talk about the Litepanels Astra LED panels. These are the latest in their 1×1 style lineup – with up to four times more power than the original Litepanels 1×1. They have significant throw and have options for remote control.
